Day 4: Thoughts from Mikayla

Our day started off with a yummy breakfast (the food here is amazing!) Then we went to Vanguard School to finish up the construction that we had started the day before. It was very hot outside! There was a team  finishing up demolition on the stage, and another team digging a trench for a new sewer line outside. My team had finished our job the day before so some of us walked up and down the gravel hallway that we made to pack it down. It was a lot of walking back and forth :) Some other jobs were sweeping, shovelling, painting and encouraging people as they worked. Finishing that job felt really good because it was our last day of construction and we had completed a lot!

We had a little extra time before lunch so we went and had some yummy Mexican ice cream and walked through a nice park where we saw monkeys.

After lunch we had siesta (which is my new favourite time of day) and then we headed off to Compostela which was where we were the first day of construction. We spent a lot of time playing with little kids which was very exciting. I think that it made everyone's day. One of our groups lead some dancing and they did dramas, chalk art and and they made bracelets for the kids. It was neat to see the kids in the Sunday school rooms that we had built.
While 1 group was in with the kids the rest of us were in the service. We didn't have a translator, so we just watched facial expressions and tried to see how many Spanish words we knew. The end of the service was really neat because we got to go put our hand on someone in the crowd and pray for them. It was very powerful. At the end of the service we had opportunity to bless the kids with the school supplies we had brought down with us.  The kids were very happy to receive the supplies that the Westpark elemetary students had put together for them.  Before leaving we all surrounded Pastor Leo and prayed for him and his family and their ministry in Compostela.  Saying good-bye to all the kids was hard, they were so cute and I loved getting hugs from all of them. When we got back to Tepic we were all exhausted and I think that everybody had a good and restful sleep.

Mikayla - It was great reading something from you! It didn't really sound like you though - you didn't add "like" to every sentence!! :)
